Trump slams Manchin as a ‘puppet,’ even after West Virginia Democrat signals he’s open to endorsing president
President Trump on Friday continued his assault on Sen. Joe Manchin even while the reasonable Democrat signaled he desires to make peace with the president just after his impeachment responsible vote.
Trump known as Manchin a “puppet” for Democrat leaders — Household Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Chuck Schumer — whilst praising West Virginia’s other senator, Shelley Moore Capito, a Republican, as a “great person.”
“I was instructed by many that Manchin was just a puppet for Schumer & Pelosi. That is what he is!” Trump tweeted.
Manchin, D-W.Va., did not cross bash strains to vote with Republicans and found Trump responsible in the Senate impeachment trial, denying the GOP a possibility to tout a bipartisan acquittal. Alternatively, the lone social gathering defector of possibly side was Republican Sen. Mitt Romney.
