Avs, Sabres to meet after bolstering lineups

The NHL trading deadline handed with no blockbuster discounts, but the Colorado Avalanche and Buffalo Sabres designed moves to increase their possibilities for the postseason.

The Sabres have won 6 of their very last eight to get again into the playoff discussion, and they bolstered their lineup by getting veteran winger Wayne Simmonds from the New Jersey Devils and a youthful, flexible ahead in Dominik Kahun from the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The two must be offered when Buffalo begins a four-game Western Convention highway swing at Colorado on Wednesday night.
